The rise of the Nyonya Kebaya

The Malaysian Peranakan community, commonly known as the Baba-Nyonya, is a unique ethnic group that’s born out of the fusion of the Malay and Chinese culture.

 

Back in the days, Nyonyas used to wear the Baju Panjang. It was loose fitting, knee-length with long sleeves. 

 

Then came the Nyonya Kebaya in the 1920’s. Semi-transparent, lace-embroidered with a tighter fit which accentuated the female silhouette. A bold fashion statement of the times, inspiring women to embrace their femininity. 

 

Since then, it has become a culture-defining piece of fashion loved by all Malaysians.

We want to get Malaysian women to embrace their femininity once again by redesigning the floral embroidery of the Nyonya Kebaya.

With the vulva as the heart of the floral embroidery, we created a symbolism of true feminity to inspire women to love their V-zone.
